Which classes are recommended for my level?
Can I attend intermediate classes?
- YOGA CHILL (Gentle Yoga) is ideal if you’re a first-timer (no prior yoga experience), a beginner (limited prior experience), or sedentary (little to no exercise background).
- YOGA FLOW 1 (Open-Level Vinyasa) is open to all levels, including first-timers. Recommended if you’re a first-timer or beginner who’s relatively fit, and if you’re looking for a dynamic and athletic practice, rather than a gentle practice. Beginner-friendly modifications will be provided, but expect a relatively challenging class if you’re a first-timer or beginner.
- First-timers are not permitted in CORE FLOW (Corework + Vinyasa), HATHA FLOW (Hatha-Vinyasa Yoga), and YOGA FLOW 2 (Mixed-Level Vinyasa), to avoid risk of injury and over-exertion. These classes are open to beginners with prior yoga experience to intermediate practitioners. Beginner-friendly modifications will be provided, but beginner-level participants should already know the basics of yoga.
I’m overweight. Can I do yoga?
- Yes, all body sizes can do yoga! We’re a body-positive space. Size doesn’t matter when it comes to getting stronger, or more flexible, or becoming more in-tune with your self, which is what yoga is really about.
Are classes suitable for older adults and seniors?
- YOGA CHILL – Level 1 is recommended for older adults and seniors.
- Older adults and seniors with existing yoga, sports, or fitness practice (i.e., active or fit for their age) may come to any class of their choice.
- Older adults and seniors with medical conditions should consult their doctor before signing up for class, especially if their medical condition may hamper their ability to perform physical activity.
Are men welcome in class?
Is yoga / flexibility difficult for men?
- Yes, men may come to class. All genders are welcome! Yoga benefits your physical and mental wellbeing, regardless of gender or sex.
- Yoga isn’t just about flexibility. In class, we work on strengthening, mobility, addressing back problems, alleviating aches and pains, and correcting or improving posture, among many things. Yoga can also alleviate stress, anxiety, and fatigue.
- Yoga is about building a deeper, more meaningful connection to your body and to your self, through the practice of mindful movement.
Can kids / teens come to class?
- To prevent risk of injury, kids ages 12 and under are not allowed to participate in class.
- Teens ages 13-17 may come to class with their guardian or with their guardian’s permission.
